If you are negotiating the process of upgrading from dialup or switching internet service providers, it is helpful to be able to quickly identify internet service providers in your area and the various internet plans they have to offer. Making sense between DSL, cable, and fiber optics internet is not difficult with the right resources. Often, the technology that is available in your area will determine which of these delivery systems you will choose. Determining the correct speed required will depend upon the activities you wish to do online. For instance, you will need more speed for things like streaming media, sharing pictures, and playing online games than if you just plan on utilizing e-mail, downloading standard-sized files, surfing and shopping online. One outdoor bonsai tree that makes a great Mother’s Day gift is the flowering crabapple bonsai, or the Malus Sargenti. This is one of the best outdoor bonsais around when it comes to absolute beauty. The flowering crabapple features gorgeous white, fragrant little flowers that will cover the entire tree during the early spring. Then the blossoms fall off to reveal small, lobed leaves. During the early summer, the flowering crabapple will feature tiny little green apples on it. These apples will be ripe by the fall, right about the same time the leaves are turning red, yellow, and orange. The leaves will fall away, but the fruit stays. During the winter, then, you’ll have an interesting view of a tree with no leaves but little green fruits. It’s quite the interesting sight. Read the rest of this entry »

Now that the cooler weather is here, I find myself pulling out the cookbooks and thinking about making big meals and yummy desserts. While there are lots of family favorites we have during the summer, most of the meals revolve around using the grill outdoors. But when fall and winter rolls around, it’s time to break out the slow cookers and the baking pans for satisfying hot dinners with mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. I do bake during the summer too, mostly muffins, desserts, and light meals. Any time of year, one of my favorite baking dishes is my large Romertopf clay baker. Read the rest of this entry »

A necklace, butterfly type, is one of the most elegant you can wear. This is my personal opinion, but I think it has merit. I am someone who loves nature, and I think the butterfly makes such a wonderful image in paintings, beautifully designed silver jewelry and as live motion (video). Probably my favorite nature film is that of a languid beauty sailing amongst a bush full of fragrant flowers, something I’d expect to see on Animal Planet or some other nature show. Quick draw pistols were not the only feared firearms during the Old West days of American History. The M1866 Western Rifle with Lever Action is also a fitting commemorative replica of one of the most popular firearms during this time. While this form of firearm was not as small and swift as one hand pistols, these weapons make up for it by packing a stronger punch with every blast. Read the rest of this entry »

For any coffee-lover, there is nothing quite like a freshly brewed, hot cup of coffee to enjoy the first thing in the morning. Or having a rich hot cup of coffee after a big, delicious dinner. Many people prefer to buy whole bean coffee and grind it up as they go since the coffee has a much fresher, stronger flavor that way. They often keep the beans in the freezer since the flavors keep best and last longer that way. Of course, you have to have a good bean grinder when you purchase whole bean coffee, like this Mr. Coffee Coffee Bean Grinder. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the greatest things about growing bonsai indoors is the huge variety of trees and plants you can choose from and for a family that has lots to offer the bonsai world the figs have even more than that going for them. I don’t expect you can pick the perfect foliage colors to match your sofa, but really – would you even try?. You’ll find as much range of shapes in the Fig family as foliage color although they’re not exactly famous for their flowers.. As well since they’re not in the jungle, climbing 60 feet high, but instead tidily planted into a bonsai pot that’s even smaller than a teapot, you get to fit this small version in a home. If you’re looking for a different gift for a special celebration, a fig bonsai can fit for a special birthday and as a retiring memento. This European ficus also known as ficus rianne is actually native from India to Northern Australia so I can’t even begin to guess how it got it’s name. Read the rest of this entry »

If you have a dog that has to have it all, the sam’s chair is the bed for them. For all intents and purposes this looks like a soft fuzzy version of a normal living room chair except scaled down for a small dog. You can pick from 3 designer covers like pink butter soft, green scroll, and cheetah faux fur. It fits tiny dogs up to 12 lbs. If you need to clean the bed, the fabric cover is removable. All you need to do is throw it in the wash on cold and tumble dry low. Then the easy remove cover goes back on the bed and your dog can once again sleep on a clean surface. Katana swords have been crafted since the early civilization of Japan. Also known as the Samurai swords, these weapons were used by Japanese warriors for centuries. The unique curve and sharpness of katana as well as the culture behind it is what makes this type of swords so popular. This pair of exciting sterling silver rhino earrings is exactly what I was looking for to complement a gorgeous outfit I bought for myself during a recent trip to Africa. Not only do they symbolize the wild beauty of this amazing continent, but they remind people of the plight of these endangered ones. Since the color is silver, I can tell those interested that they are white rhinos, of which there are less than 30 left on the planet. Now that is a very scary thought. Read the rest of this entry »

When it’s cold outside, the first thing the kids do when they get off the school bus is run into the kitchen looking for something “yummy for their tummies”. I typically like to make my own hot cocoa, but most days when the kids come slamming into the kitchen after school, I’m in the middle of fixing dinner. Rather than preparing pre-packaged hot chocolate mixes, which can taste watery and bland, I have my own Creamy Hot Cocoa Mix ready to go. The kids can dig in and scoop the mix into their favorite mug while I turn on the water to heat. It just takes a minute to stir it up, add some marshmallows, and they are settled in for the night. For many years we’ve been using this old, stainless steel double-burner nonstick griddle on our cook top to make pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and other breakfast favorites. We’ve gotten good use out of this old griddle, but it’s seen better days. The handles have become a bit scorched over time and the nonstick is not quite as nonstick as it once was. But it can be hard to part with such a well-used and well-loved piece of kitchen equipment. That is, until I found this fabulous Family-Size Electric Griddle from Black and Decker. Weddings are all about traditions. One long-standing tradition is treating your best man and groomsmen with presents. However, most men do not really need a pocket watch or cuff links: while these traditional gifts still appeal to some men, grooms may prefer to give more modern, up to date gifts. However, with the cost of a modern wedding skyrocketing, it is more difficult than ever to buy stylish yet affordable gifts for the wedding party.
The average groomsman would likely be happier with a gift personalized for him than a standardized one that all the men receive. However, your budget may require Inexpensive Gifts for your Best Man and Groomsmen. Dont’ worry, there are many great resources where personalized, fun groomsman gifts can be bought at a price that will not blow your budget. One resource is www.eyecandygifts.com. This site offers personalized gifts, and they even have a groomsman section. In addition to traditional pocket watches and cufflinks, they also offer things like personalized pilsner glasses and beer mugs, poker sets (great for the bachelor party), and personalized can koozies. An avid golfer groomsman would love the Hampton Executive putter set offered on the site. The gentlemen at your wedding might like Zippo lighters engraved with the date of the wedding or their names.
