Staying In Shape Through The Holidays

Soon it’ll be that time of year when Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve will be upon us. Staying in shape through these holidays will take some work but it can be done. You can enjoy these holidays and eat but you need to do it wisely. Each holiday brings out different food temptations. From candy to pumpkin pies, to fruitcake to Champagne. So what’s a person to do when you’re looking at caloric overload?

First off, let’s start with the obvious. Don’t overeat. Think portion control. Eat everything just do not overdo it. Try smaller portions. If you avoid the extra calories than you have a great start on the holidays. Next, allow yourself time for some exercise. Stick with your regular workout routine. Just don’t overdo it on a full stomach. And speaking of that full stomach, don’t beat yourself up if you do over do it this holiday season. It is after all a time of family gatherings and traditions.

Feasting is for many Americans a part of that family tradition. And whether you want to or not, most likely you’ll be tempted to taste everything with all those aunts and uncles you haven’t seen in awhile.
